I LOVE pulled pork and this recipe couldn’t be easier — turn on the slow cooker before work and arrive home to a delicious barbecue dinner that has pretty much cooked itself! Topped with sweet and spicy homemade barbecue sauce and some crunchy slaw, I can’t think of much that I’d rather come home to (other than my family, of course!).
Slow Cooker Pulled Pork
Serves 4-5
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 pounds boneless pork loin roast, fat trimmed
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1/4 cup water
In a small bowl, mix the salt, pepper, chili powder, garlic powder and brown sugar. Rub the meat with enough of the mixture to coat the roast. Place the pork in the slower cooker and pour in the vinegar and water. Put the lid on the slow cooker and cook the meat on high for 4-5 hours, or on low for 5-6 hours, until the meat falls apart when pierced with a fork. Remove the meat from the slow cooker and drain the liquid. Return the meat to the slow cooker and use two forks to shred it. Mix in barbecue sauce if desired. Serve on hamburger buns.
Sweet and Spicy Barbecue Sauce
Yields 1 1/2 cups of sauce
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons apple cinder vinegar
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon ground mustard
Place all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat and stir to combine. Cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
This one looks delicious! I’m adding it to my list of recipes to try soon. The kids aren’t big fans of bbq, but Mike and I definitely are – and anything sweet and spicy!
I have so many recipes, including some of yours, that I need to try out — hopefully soon!
I also love pulled pork. This looks wonderful – perfect for this weekend!
good recipe! me made it tonight for dinner…mmm
Can this be frozen?
This was a great recipe and loved by both my husband and I. I didn’t have any bbq sauce and it was soo good! Wish you had pinterest.
I’ve made your recipe a couple of times, and it’s been great. My kids are super picky, and they even love the sandwiches with just the meat (no sauce), sliced tomatoes, and ketchup on flatbread buns. I love the fact that it has a homemade sauce so I can control the quality of the ingredients (I use organic ketchup so no high fructose corn syrup, etc.) Thanks for the great recipe!
