When I was in college, my roommate and I made popcorn almost every night. We didn’t have a microwave so we made it with an air popper and topped it with butter spray. Inevitably, some of the popcorn would end up on the floor and we called it our “popcorn farm.” Today I have a dog to take care of that problem.
Popcorn is still one of my favorite snacks. I have to admit that I will sometimes watch a movie with Josue just so that I have an excuse to eat popcorn.
There are lots of ways to make popcorn but I prefer the kind made on the stove top. I like that it’s really hot when it comes off the stove and that it has an original popcorn flavor. No microwave fake butter flavor for me! Here’s how I do it:
Coat the bottom of a large pot with oil. Add popcorn kernels. Put a lid on the pot, leaving it cracked a little for moisture to escape. Turn the heat to medium and allow kernels to pop. Once the popping slows, take the pot of the stove. Add desired toppings and enjoy!
I’ve had friends who use some interesting toppings on their popcorn: parmesan cheese, habanero powder, brewer’s yeast… I’m wondering what toppings you like on yours?
